The Vespa Project Part IV

It's together! It's running! It's a miracle!

Leonie Griffiths

Linc must be congratulated! Not only was it running within a week of getting the doner parts out and prepared to go in, but it went relatively smoothly!

There were some issues that came up in the transfer, like being a slightly different model, and having nowhere to put the battery (that incidentally is now not available, nor able to be replaced due to the odd size and space to fit into, and had the audacity to not be compatible with replacement bits and pieces), and the lights only sometimes working, when they felt like it, if there was a south easterly blowing over the gulf, and it was raining in Redlynch and the Inlet but not in the City at the same time. Providing humidity wasn't over 84%.

But other than that, the road tests have gone great! At least that's what I've gathered from Linc's wildly grinning face every time he came back in - drenched or not. He's been madly posting on our Facebook page with photos and videos, but here's a selection to prove the bike is actually working!

The "loon grin"

 Minor adjustments.

Looking all pretty!

Are you starting to notice the pattern here?

It won't be long until this project is finished (or as finished as it'll ever be!) and we start on another venture with the the doner body. That will (apparently) get turned into a hot rod since this one was too original to mess around with. But that's something to think about in the New Year!
